Move them to the absolute root directory.  You will have to change to the /cdrom directory to mount or dismount the other way.

You want those two files to be at the    # /   level.

so use the   "cp" command to copy the files from /cdrom to /  and then delete them from /cdrom.

The colors make it really easy to tell what's going on in your system.

It may be easier for you to simply use Pico to create new files from the root level and then delete the ones from /cdrom

If you make new files, be sure to use "chmod 755  <filename>"

Oh My!

Compaq is hard to work with and who knows what they have done.  Generally you can't change anything on a Compaq.  You get what you got.

com3 = cua2

I'd rather have a modem on Com1.

Guess you are going to do Com3

DSL will work great.  You can buy large bandwidth and it's fairly cheap.  I can't get DSL here.  Too far away from the switch house.  With ISDN and compression I will have 520K of throughput which is enough to get started.

I can "stack" 3 ISDN lines and then it will be time to get myself a frame relay service.

Sorry I can't help you more.
