the way Applix looks like they will be a go soon. Someone is just trying to
locate the correct person to say yes. Star Division has said that it will be a
month before they can answer. And I have a name over at Oracle.

For Immediate Release

Linux Demo Day Project Announced

Over the last eighteen months, Linux has been getting a very large amount
of press coverage. This enormous coverage hasn't been limited to the computer
industry publications. It has also included such mainstream publications as
Time, Forbes, and CNN. This means that the number of people who aware of Linux
is much higher than ever before. While all this press coverage is wonderful,
most readers have probably never seen Linux in action. Some readers may not
care but there may be some that with a little more exposure to Linux and a
support network in place that may be willing to give Linux a try. This is the
motivation behind the Linux Demo Day project.

In order to help expose Linux to a larger audience Linux Demo Day intends
to arrange with the help of corporate sponsors and Linux User Groups an
international demonstration of Linux during the period of September 12 through
18. The time frame was set to coincide with the anniversary of Linux kernel
version 0.1 and still allow for flexibility with the local user groups.

The demonstrations are being scheduled to occur at schools, malls.
bookstores, or any locations a user group can find that would be able to be
viewed by a large number of people. This would allow potential users and
businesses to experience Linux first hand and allow direct communication with
Linux users that could provide the neccessary support.

The organization for the project is occuring at the linuxdemo.org website,
http://www.linuxdemo.org. The site contains suggestions for setup and
demonstrations for user groups and also present are listings of the corporate
sponsors and user groups participating.

Persons interested in participating in Linux Demo Day should refer to the
website and contact the appropriate staff personnel for futher information.
