Mail from ILUG-BOM list (Non-Digest Mode)

My hard disk looks like this,

/dev/hda1 FAT32 4.0 GB DOS Parition
/dev/hda2 FAT32 2.5 GB DOS Partition
/dev/hda3 ext2 70 MB Linux Swap
/dev/hda4 ext2 3.0 GB Linux Native.

My problem is that I wanted to make /dev/hda4 into Linux
extended and make 3 logical partition in it. But I could
not do with fdisk (Linux). To create a new partition fdisk
gives 2 option Primary and logical. But how does one create
a extended partition, because without extended partition
logical partition is not possible (or so I think). I tried
to convert Linux primary partition /dev/hda4 into Linux
extended, but fdisk says that conversion of partition into
extended and vice-versa is not allowed. Can anyone suggest
what is that I am not quite figuring out here.

Thanks.

Raj.
