Mail from ILUG-BOM list (Non-Digest Mode)
Hello, Philip,
It is very difficult to configure the graphic modes on an Intel 810
chipset with built-in video card, because there is no video RAM, and the
main memory is used in place of that.
There is a Linux driver and an X server for the Intel 810 chipset at
support.intel.com. However, Linux needs to be installed before you can
install the driver!
There should be some parameters, which if passed to the "boot:" prompt,
will switch the installation to text mode. But it would be better to check
if you have XFree86 3.3.5 on the CD before proceeding further.
If case text mode installation is not possible, and XFree86 3.3.5 is
available on the SuSE 6.3 CD, then you can install SuSE 6.2 in text mode,
update XFree86 to 3.3.5 (using Yast), then configure X using the driver
from Intel.
Hope this helps,
Kartik.
