Hi

delete the file /tmp/mysql.sock

also kill any mysql / mysqld / safe_mysql process running.
then try to start mysql. i think this will solve your problem.

regards,

Subject: [ILUG-BOM] mysql problem

Mail from ILUG-BOM list (Non-Digest Mode)

dear friends,
i am faced with problem i dont understand very well,
mysql, which was running fine till now,
now at the boot time, it gives error mysqld daemon has died.

if i type mysql at prompt it gives error as
Cant connect to local MySQL server through socket /tmp/mysql.sock (111)

if type mysqld at prompt it gives error as
Cant Start server : Bind on UNIX socket: Permission denied
Do you already have mysqld server running on socket /tmp/mysql.sock ?
Aborting.

even rcmysql start, stop, restart result in mysql daemon ending.
what must be the problem, and what is the solution, can any body tell me
please....

thanking you in advance

vaibhav.
