I think I might have been hit by a boot sector virus. It must've written
itself to my MBR and relocated the starting part of lilo (read on for why
I think so).
When I started my machine, my BIOS virus warning started up - Attempt to
write to boot sector press Y to allow, any other key to abort. I aborted,
and rebooted. Got the warning again.
Aborted again and booted into linux. Then, I ran lilo. lilo overwrote
the MBR and with it the virus code (I hope).
Rebooted the machine, and the warning was gone.
Now, someone tell me. When lilo writes to the MBR, what does it do with
the stuff that was previously there? I hope it doesn't relocate it to
some other location where it can get executed - like the boot sector of
windows (of course, then I'd get the BIOS warning again).
I think it's about time I got myself a windows antivirus (no, not one that
finds and removes windows).

Why do they call a fast a fast, when it goes so slow?
