There r various kinda file formats & devices on LINUX. U have charachter
devices, files, directories , Symetric links & many more. Do check out the info
on these file permissions.
Rajen, changing the permissions usin "chmod 644 fille_name" , may
get u things a bit too complex for ya right now & open unknown security holes
into ya m/c for both pple indie ur network & outside.
I would suggest that u let the file permissions be as they r. Root
access to this charachter device is permissible but this power in the hands of
a lay user could mean nyone would have access to the net & u know well as i do
that the net could bring ya m/c down in minutes if it unleashes it's evil
power through the various deadly tools available out there....
