I do not know why modprobe is trying to load them .. 
till what stage of setting up a ppp connection do You reach ?

yes... I U want to connect using ppp. I made that mistake once ... tried
to get greedy & reduce kernel size..  ..
 ( hey I was just learning !!!!  :-)  

-> trial & error pays off - my present kernel ( 2.2.14 ) is just 491 kb
as against the 638 kb default. recompiling Ur kernel helps.. a lot.



while on that... 
has anyone ( sucessfully ) tried out the agpgart ( experimental) module
driver for agp chipsets ?  ( kernel 2.2.14 )
