thanks for the help friends
but how do i go about if the problem is this ...
i have installed fetchmail in my system. fetchmail does not startup automatically, i
have to manually start it each time after the systems boots up. how do i start it
during bootup.
i have also installed jakarta-tomcat for enabling java server pages on the linux
system, but this also never starts during bootup how do i start it at boot time.

Hi,
In YAST go down into system configuration and then into change
configuration file.
As an alternative edit /etc/rc.config which will contain the same
options given above and then run SuSEconfig. SuSEconfig will read the
rc.config and then update the system.
