Install ext2fs from
http://uranus.it.swin.edu.au/~jn/linux/.
This will allow you to read your linux partition.
Copy vmlinuz-2.2.12-20 from your /root/boot
directory to windows root (or whereever u like).
rename to somthing handy like vl
Copy Loadlin to root. Type the following from DOS
loadlin vl root=/dev/hdax where x is your linux
partition.
Alternative is to install XOSL. It's a pretty GUI
bootmgr and allows restoring MBR after windows
has messed up (NOTE: does not work with seagate
DM on machines which do not support >8.4gb thru
bios ;-(.
The reliability of floppies permits use as tea
coasters (dont ever think of rescuing / backing
up anything using them). Also u will be regularly
reinstalling windows. Hence above method is very
useful. Having Ext2fs is very handy for accessing
linux partition from windows.
If u are doing some serious work would advise u
invest in a CD writer. Believe me u will have
peace of mind.
