I have come into contact with Oracle 8.0.5 and Oracle
8.1.5 and both of them work pretty decently with
linux.. although I'm sure that others will beg to
differ....
Both of them were installed on Redhat 6.1, eventhough
Oracle India will say that 8.0.5 cannot be installed
on RH6.1.. but it does work along with some patches...
8.1.5 comes with a Java Installer and takes about 4
hrs to install.. here too there r patches to apply
IBM Db2 also installs on Linux and could be another
option... So does Informix... among commercial
database applications....
