Well, I'm not totally against it. I generally don't like GUIs. I utterly
hate people who reach for the mouse when a simple keystroke or two is
shorter. I *really* hate people who sit at my Linux CLI and reach for the
mouse *except* to cut and paste.
Retroactive warning: that was a rant.

Thoughts are expensive, too little supply.
>Windows does *NOT* suck, it is Microsoft which really sucks. Windows is
To many people, MS==Windows==browser==OS==mail'proggie'==kitchensink.

Perhaps. But will it let me adjust certain things in a sane way? No, I
have to dig through a maze of twisty dialog boxes, all alike, to set at&x.
It's too user-friendly. It hides things. Here, read this:
<URL:http://chrisworth.com/oddments/the_microsoft_matrix.html>. If you
read the whole thing, you'll get my exact point. Windows won't let you do
some things. According to a sig I saw, Linux will eat your dog for you, if
you want your dog eaten. More seriously, take hdparm, about which a few
messages were recently sent. It'll let you do all sorts of dangerous
things to your hard disk, because, dammit, it's *your* system, not your
OS's.

Sure, if you want to set cute wallpapers and play with icons all day. No
matter if your CD burner cuts off because the GUI hung while you had the
desktop properties open.
>So instead of hating Windows and trying to prove how superior Linux is,
All software sucks, some just suck more than others.

It is user friendly, it's just choosy about it's friends.
It is definitely not luser friendly. :-)
>_STOP_ cursing Windows, thus wasting your bandwidth and energy, and put it
Nobody's cursing Windows here, at least not for the sake of cursing. If
one curses Windows, one usually has a specific problem. "Damn, it won't
let me set PIO mode..."
>Hope I have not wasted your precious Development Time ;-)
Nah, I was about to read Usenet anyway. Gave me an opportunity to rant,
too.
But trim that sig, man!
