Did any of you try this recent distro from Corel? I have downloaded
the iso, and installed it. It looked very impressive. It is made on
top of Debian 2.1, with recent kernel. However in the looks there is
nothing linux about it. It looked like another OS. I couldn't see any
boot time messages, nor could I read the /var/log/messages. Printer
support was impressive, it configured the local as well as network
printers of both windows and linux machines easily. It may become a
good desktop linux OS. It can be recommended for those who would like
to use Linux at Cubercafes. It continues to be opensource, though.

Now the non-open source part: Corel's approach seems working. They
have ported Corel Office 2000, Corel Draw, and Corel Photopaint to
Linux, using simply wine. They are also supporting wine development.
I have started using corel photopaint, it is working fine. Very good
font support and even printer support. See further details from
linux.corel.com.

I have downloaded photopaint (rpm) and corel linux os. If any of you
want it let me know. If you want to download around 400MB of iso
image, it is available from ftp://tifrc6.tifr.res.in, through anonymous ftp.
