If you have a 286/386 PC that runs dos, and a network card, or a
serial port you can connect it to the machine running linux. That is
how we started building network at our place. You will be connecting
to the linux sever by minicom or cu over the serial line, or telnet
command over the network card.

Free Telnet/ftp/lpr software for dos will be available from NCSA. I have
them, I can provide the floppy if anyone wants or put it on our ftp
site, for download.

For serial line, you will need serial cable (nine pin) of sufficient
length. Look at the the Serial-HOWTO, and mgetty and setserial for
configuring the serial lines.

We can do a demonstration at one of our lug meeting next time.
