dude see if this helps.....
even if your resolution is 1028 x 768 it might open in 800x600 as the
default mode because of the virtual resolution .if you have 2mb vram then
you can only afford a virtual resolution of 1000 x 1000 .that's a million
pixels and with 16bit color(2 bytes per pixel) that's 2million bytes(mb) for
you so putting a virtual resolution greater than this will give you an error
message when you start the x-server.so if you want to use 1028 x 768..
check your vram and do the mathematics and make the appropriate changes.
