I have used debian distro on a 386 PC with 8MB ram to PII dual with 128
ram.  It installs best on both the systems with optimization options.
With redhat it is impossible to use my 386 that has only 100MB partition.
I have a debian system with 52MB installation with xwindows running.  I
use it as a client.  

Actually on your machine with celeron and all that, I dont know why you
are looking for something better than redhat. It works just as fine as
others.
