Hi folks,
I have been using RH5.2 for the last year and a half . Yesterday, I purchased
the August 1999 issue of the CHIP and tried to reinstall the newer version of
RH6.0 on the same partition by using the install rather than the upgrade option.
I had the following problems during the installation:
My PC does not boot from a CDROm drive. Hence I used a old installation
floppy that I had used to install the PCQ version earlier. It did proceed
initially quite well with very few message indicating that some files could
not be found.
However I was not able to proceed beyond the setting the LILO. I was not able
to commit MBR . I kept getting a error message that the LILO was not loaded
properly. I had to skip the step through the menu option in desperation.
Subsequently now when ever i boot my machine it refuses to go beyond the LI
message that it displays.
Has anyone had similiar experiences ?. It would be great if someone could advise
on solving this problem.
