I had a similar problem when I had tried to install Linux and Windoze on a
fresh hard disk. Although I hadnt yet installed Windoze, I set its
partition as bootable (but not default) in the LILO configuration step.
Since in fact there was no system on the DOS partition, LILO could not
modify the MBR successfully.
I dont know if the same is happening with your comp. But the solution is
to create a linux bootable floppy in an intermediate step and then edit
/etc/lilo.conf to remove any wrong entry. Then run "lilo" and everything
should be fine.
I dont know if any option exists to remove the entries for problematic
partitions from the list of bootable ones at install time.
