I partially solved this problem by first deleting all partitions, and then
creating a
FAT16 DOS partition.
After doing this I ran disk druid and my C/H/S setting came back to
524/255/63, and
the installation went fine. But I have to boot from a boot disk. Installing
LILO on the
first sector of hdb does not work.
If I go into fdisk from linux and change the boot flag from the FAT16
partition to the linux native
partition, then I get an error saying Invalid Partition table on boot. If I
set it to the dos partition,
then I get a missing o/s error which is ok since I did not format the
partition and install DOS.
So in short I can finally boot from a floppy, but not from the hdd.
Thanks
Shahed.
