Does apache give this error ?? Have you set the servername parameter in
/etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf
Note that u may be having a nonfunctional DNS ..
Use linuxconf to set the hostname / domainname .. do not do stuff manually
. By the way that's Redhat ..
For suse try yast ..
