I knew how to do this until i started doing it for
someone and am facing a lot of problems in configuring
this LAN setup. please tell me where i am going wrong
or if someone can help personally please write back to
me. i am in kalyan (Thane district). need this help
urgently. v r a group of linux enthusiasts running a
complete Linux web cafe in kalyan. we promote linux in
our area.
I have 4 m/c setup over a LAN all using Linux 6.0
installation. connected with a hub. ip addresses
assigned internally are 192.168.1.1,2,3,4.
m/c *.1 is connected with a modem (COM2 port). I am
able to connect to the internet over this m/c (i.e can
ping the isp server kppp connects!). the netstat -n -r
o/p shows a device ppp0 pointing to this isp. when i
start netscape on this m/c and try to connect to say
yahoo i get a message saying cannot connect to server.
ur SOCKS_NS variable needs to be changed and so on.
don't know what to do here??
netscape preferences proxies is pointing to direct
connection to LAN on this server m/c.
I have configured squid on the server. all other m/c
point to this server m/c so when i have a httpd
running on this m/c i can access files on this server.
for this all other m/c have proxies pointing to
192.168.1.1 and squid port no.
pls tell me what needs to be done. tell me exactly
what should be the ifconfig parameters if this has to
be used.
