If you program using borland C in DOS, then look at the help on graphics.c
You will see very clearly in the compatibility portion that it is not
ANSI C, so don't expect any equivalent in other OSes (even Windows).

Instead, you need to do gtk programming or use the X11 libraries in the
X11 subdirectory of include.  Check the docs for more info.

What is your serial port speed set to?  Set it to 115200 and see if it
makes a difference.
