try this:
create primary partition (u've done this)
Give the rest of the hard disk to extended partition.
In this extended partition, create 3 Logical partitions (i think this is
what u've missed)
Format one for windows (so now u have two windows drives)
one for linux 'root
�ne for linux swap.
 This should get u thru.
Also, i'd suggest using the linux 'fdisk' program'..its much better than the
dos fdisk or even disk druid.
