Following my last post, Sagar and I did some talking on ICQ. Here's the
log (note the time):

4:14:07 Sagar: hmmm ....well ...point abt not taking a regular monthly
fee is fine ...but i feel we should at least hv a one time fee of 10 or
50 or whatever ....you see, nag spend each time for the canteen charges
...there could be a few other expenses which we donno abt ...

4:15:15 Jace: I agree on that one. I still think our meets have too low
an attendance rate for collecting fixed sums though. Me thinks it kind
of kills the friendly atmosphere.
4:15:37 Jace: Although I'm yet to attend a meet that I didn't find
boring.
4:15:42 Sagar: moreover ....when theres money with the lug, we can think
abt subscribing to mags and journals ...
and registering as a society is gonna be benefecial, becoz without it
theres abso no point getting money from ppl ....finger pointing would
start on the usage of it ...
4:16:32 Jace: I'm open to registering as a society. What bothers me is
the formalities we'll have to maintain after that. How many of us have
the time for that?

well then we could hv a voluntary contrib, and a spec amt for usage of
each resource ...cd's, canteen etc ....wot say ?

we're not gonna register as a company .....
4:17:57 Jace: I think we should change what we do at meets. Talking
about how to do something gets boring beyond a point. You can do the
same online too.
4:18:22 Jace: Meets are places to show off. We should invite people to
describe cool stuff they've done, maybe even get their boxen across.
4:20:16 Sagar: that would be good ...show off is defi gonna be
benefecial to most ...
gettin boxen ...hmmm ..am not sure how easy that gonna be ....
4:21:11 Jace: I can't get my office box, so I'll have to be content with
posting screenshots. :)

install Linux on it, so that's out too.

4:32:39 Jace: This is it. I'm getting a real IMAP server. This sucks.
4:33:20 Sagar: i dont even know how IMAP protocol works ....gotta do
some reading on it ...
4:34:16 Jace: Mail's stored on the server and understands MIME. The
client can choose to initially download only the headers, then the parts
of the mail that it wants. Very neat if your network is good.

4:35:13 Jace: It's great boon if you multiboot, like I used to.
4:35:57 Sagar: dosent satyam (or is it rolta) use imap ?

auto-retrieve folder names and cache headers..

screwed.
