I read a post sometime back that the SUSE distro
contains time limited copies of various packages
on it's six CDs.

Also please note that downloads for patches and
upgrades are inevitable. This is a direct
consequence of OS. The pace of development and
upgradation is furious to say the least.

However for an "ordinary" user a packaged distro
like Suse, RH, Caldera etc. is great.

Registration gets you support for installation
and problems that you may face. Hence Registered
copy would make sense only if the distro has
local prescence (SuSe). Support according to me
is dialing a number and talking (in plain
endlish/hindi/marathi) to a non android. I am not
aware of the others as of April.
