Ha Ha Ha Ha.  Have you ever tried reading the credits for linux?  Have you
ever read the documentation?

And BTW, your question was well anticipated.

Linus wrote an initial version of the kernel.  This was based on minix (in
fact almost entirely minix code, with changes for himself).  He then
released it on the internet, and posted a usenet query asking for help on
designing a POSIX compliant OS that would run on a 386.  Within a day I
think he had modules (don't confuse with modular kernels) from all over
the place to add in.  The minix file system however was retained for quite
some time.

Linus is the maintainer for the kernel.  He writes some, but not all of
the code.  He does not write any of the applications that make up the
GNU/Linux OS.  Those Apps are written by GNU and others.

Linus does not steal any credit from anyone.  It is something that has
been given to him by his audience.
