Hi Gang,
one reason i am stuck with win95 is that astronomy (not LOGY) is my
hobby and i keep on staring at sky, stars, planets several a nights with
my 8x35 binocular. I can identify dozens of constellations, hundreds of
stars, 5 naked eye planets, and, of course, the Moon and the Sun. :-)

to help in that, i have got planetarium softwares CYBERSKY, MY_SKY,
PLANET_WATCH, which emulate on the computer screen how the sky looks at
any selected moment from any selected place, and the relative positions
of these heavenly bodies. These are windows version.

please suggest whether such softwares are available for Linux, and
wherefrom i can download them, free/ eval. Also give your
recommendations of the software you have used.

i am also processing SETI@Home packets in win95 (done 50 packets,
clocked 700 cpu hours). I tried to download Linux version but got
confused as the server does not list my celeron400, it lists 386, 486,
Px. what should i opt for?

Any amateur astronomer in the list? please write to me if you like to
share the views. i am also a member of MLs shallow-sky and ASTRO-L.
