Server and workstation installs assume that you are installing on a new
machine/ empty HD by default.

Nope, for any machine on a network with a dedicated connection.

loopback [by default (127.0.0.1)]

Refer first point above.
Server and workstation installs are for business/academia/networks, not single
user machines!

Not necessary, adjust as per your needs. If you can keep the two on separate
HDs, it will be better for high disk io operations.

Yes. man fdisk, man mkswap.

You mean remembering a few numbers is a problem? And what happens when you
don't have X? Or you are on a remote network with a slow connection? And of
course, you can always back out without committing anything from druid and
fdisk on Linux. And if you aren't confident during the process of partitioning,
try reading a bit about it first, then do it. Or ask someone to come over and
do it (might be expen$ive tho).
