I know we never get the advertised speeds but one should expect 90-95% 
of the advertised speeds i.e 230-240Kbps ( 28-30KBps ). This isn't 
unrealistic.

Doesnt matter. I already have a caching proxy running at my place. So 
DNS look ups arent a problem.

I dont intend to use any data transfer plan. I was curious about their 
service because if they are launching an unlimited plan then I would 
probably be interested in going in for their plans. As BSNL has 
launched their unlimited plan at 900 bucks a month means that within a 
few months MTNL _must_ reduce its cost to that level.

Thanks for this heads up. I am cautious about MTNL for this reason 
itself. I've had enough headaches when converting from prepaid to 
postpaid.

I guess I will wait for Airtel to start their service.
