Ubuntu does it automatically, unless you changed some settings. Here is
my fstab entry for optical drives in Ubuntu 5.10
/dev/hdc /media/cdrom0 udf,iso9660 user,noauto 0 0
/dev/hdb /media/cdrom1 udf,iso9660 user,noauto 0 0
