tasksel is a program run from shell once base installation is complete. if u select linux26 at the bootpromt at the beginning of install, installer will run it automagically for u after base installation.
so what will it actually show me? will it give me the list of softwares from which I can choose? if that's exactly what it is going to do, then just typing linux26 will be sufficient for me. actually package selection is my main requirement when I will install debian. and is the gcc compiler, libc6 and other development tools like python the part of base install or do I need to select it from tasksel. further I am also confused as to when exactly will I be able to know weather a certain package is present on a certain cd.
