He is using a home edition with no Aero and his mobo is 955, so 32 bit with Pentium dual core 2.8 GHz. Right now I am planning on Kubuntu as his use is only documents and internet. I will give him a live demo of Sabayon linux that has berryl loaded.
Still, check in the bios is em64t is supported. if yes, install the 64 bit version. it will work, and show him that his shipped windows is just 32 bit, while linux is 64, and tell him that vista is wasting some of the hardware capabilities... Rajeev
