Yeah, that the way. The idea is to first setup the system on your
machine as you want it. Then use the aptoncd utility to generate the
second CD. When you go to install on your friend's machine, first
install Ubuntu as normal, then use apt-cdrom command to add the second
CD to its repository list and then install the necessary software.
