Actually, I used to have a techcom webcam. But that didnt work on linux. So I picked up a logitech webcam messenger, quality is pretty good. Cant expect anything too fancy for Rs. 1100 odd. But nevertheless a nice webcam. Works great with ubuntu/hardy. The latest skype beta for linux has video support. With a 2mbit down/512up, its almost brilliant with no lags.
Personally, the quality in this case was comparable against the mac isight in terms of refresh rates. Maybe 10-15% lower to the mac isight in reproduction quality. Considering one costs 10 times more than the other, I think 10-15% is very doable. Interestingly it works kinda slow/ poorly as compared on windows.
