I have a fully updated Kubuntu Gutsy Gibbon (7.10) installation with the 2.6.22-14-generic kernel. It seems like my computer cannot boot without the all_generic_ide parameter added to the kernel line in menu.lst
If I remove the all_generic_ide parameter, my computer won't boot and gives an error "waiting for root file-system". Also, all my ide devices are detected under /dev/sdx.
