BTW you could install from the windows partition itself ... your friends in this one - 1. grub4dos 2. kernel image and intrd image from hd-media ( http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/hardy/main/installer-i386/current/images/hd-media/ ) 3. And the alternate installer iso on the windows partition.
