I can understand why you feel this way but if it was a security policy then it would either completely allow or prevent. In your case you could open Google. Anyway, try disconnecting the USB connection and keeping only the ethernet connection connected directly with the Debian machine. Let me know the result. -- Regards, Dinesh A.
