# service network restart

# /etc/rc.d/init.d/network restart 

# /etc/init.d/network restart 

all these commands do the same, 

i even changed the ip in /etc/hosts

but it does not reflect in 
# /sbin/ifconfig eth0

u got to use /etc/init.d/network restart
