| Mplayer or any other player can use XV as video output plugin, it displays | a blue window when I do. X11 works but then I cant scale, so no full | screen.
Use -vo sdl. Or, while using -vo x11, use -zoom.

Firewall config? Check your iptables. /etc/hosts.[allow|deny] ?
