If your desktop is kde then klick - start icon, settings, control
center, peripherals, printers, add printer,
After adding your printer, start the cups printing daemon - /etc/
init.d/cups start. Also add the application rcconf using apt. rcconf
simplifies the task of enabling / removing daemons. You can set cups
to start automatically on boot.
Fairly simple.

you have to insert the neccessary modules. modprobe <whatever>
what hardware?
lspci will display all the hardware as recognised by the internal
chipset ids - much more useful than vague taiwanese mufacturere's
names.
