Download the foomatic debs. In case you have synaptic, search for foomatic and
install the drivers. Most printers are supported. Some important packages are
foomatic-db, foomatic-db-engine, foomatic-gui, foomatic-filters,
foomatic-filters-ppds (the last deb is huge, so download only the prebuild
ppd for your particular printer).
Configure CUPS (install cupsys- cups server) and install a gui (preferably
qtcups or gtklp). You can also access the web-interface with your browser at
port 631.
