Your laptop CD/DVDrom is unable to read the specific media. I have a Tecra 8000. Although the CDROM is able to read most CD-R and R/W, I have experienced similar behavior with few CD-R media. The CDROM led will keep blinking ad infinitum. You might try burning the CD/DVD on to a different brand media. HTH.
