Did you try knoppix? Give it a whirl. The hardware you have isn't out of this world. It must work! BTW FC4 stock kernel is a bit buggy. It locks up on a popular chipset like intel 865. As for debian, well it shows weird problems where other distros don't. Have you tried slackware? Try a few more distros. BTW just I finished downloading the latest knoppix distro.
