We discussed this when the list guidelines were reviewed on this list a
few months back.  Looks like it did not make into the version that is
online

Personally, I am afraid today's mobile SMS culture will eventually
become a dialect similar to ebonics in the US; the next generation will
come into the workforce unable to write a paragraph without reverting to
SMS.
