I don't think my message got through to
the op so here's a repost you may find helpful:

Emacs + org-mode does outlining, scheduling, note-taking, organizing, etc.,
and it does it extremely well. Give it a try.  The same thing can work no
matter
which OS you're using, so it's well worth the effort to learn to use it.
