jQuery is fun because it has so lots of plugins and very easy
development procedure. cross platform is a +ve. jQuery is GPL+MIT ,
its dual license.
One cannot hide JavaScript code.

Success of jQuery do not comes from its license. (IMHO). also many
plugins and other code I see are also dual licensed like jQuery.
