I already see that happening in mobile space.

Android is #1 player (in terms of marketshare) in Smartphone
ecosystems. And I can do pretty much anything on my Android devices.

Users don't care about freedom, but they do care that Android phones
are now available for 9k. And a nice UI on top of Linux makes it
usable by common people.
