This back-and-forth is actually good for everyone. IE had an easy
monopoly in browsers. Firefox set a cat among the pigeons in browser
market.

But even Firefox got complacent after a while.

Later, Safari browsers came around and open-sourced WebKit (Google
Chrome uses the same Engine). And recent versions of IE has caught up
in terms of performance.


So basically, competition is good in long term.
