Think of helping their customers (and esp. engineers), too. Most of the
time the customers/engineers don't have a choice due to company
policies, or because some manager prefers some big names in the
business. But I won't argue on a level of personal preference. So back
to the technical topic. It seems like the reverse sync is a simple and
efficient method supported by more than one vendor. And yes, the avnu
stuff might be abandonware, but on the other hand it only describes the
control plane, ie. how to enable the reverse sync and when the sync's
should be send. IMHO this could easily replaced by another mechanism in
the future.
If this reverse sync thingy makes it into 1558 v2.1 or the next
802.1-AS revision, then we can consider supporting it.
Not that i'm aware of. I skimmed through the 802.1as-rev D7.3 draft and
didn't find anything related to this. Can't say anything about the
IEEE1588 v2.1. So I'm out of luck here ;)
