Sounds like a great step backwards.  Really.

I didn't quite follow the explanation of your correction field counter
thing, but I can only recommend this.

- Make a proper PHC for your fpga.
- Implement the SO_TIMESTAMPING API for your fpga.
- Use the modular tsproc and servo in linuxptp for your filters.
